The Croatia men’s national football team, governed by the Croatian Football Federation and part of FIFA and UEFA, is known as the Vatreni and has become one of the game’s great over-achievers, reaching the World Cup final in 2018 and finishing third in both 1998 and 2022, and runners-up in the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League. Davor Šuker, Zvonimir Boban, Luka Modrić, Ivan Perišić and Andrej Kramarić define the generations behind that run. Croatia are now led by Slaven Bilić, appointed in July 2026 for a second spell after managing the side from 2006 to 2012.
